Picture the scene, getting ready for your night out. Full face of makeup perfection, Hair is immaculate and bobby pinned to an inch of it’s life. You go to put on your favourite liquid lipstick and crack. Your sore lips start flaking all over the shop and you’re in a bad mood. Sound familiar? That was a bit dramatic but everyone suffers with sore lips every so often… right?
Summer is the season of gloss. Duh. A random visit to Trafford centre became an influential trip when I stumbled across the new Buxom counter in Debenhams. Without hesitation I went straight to the glosses and picked out some wearable colours.
The Buxom glosses come in t formulas their Lip Creme and Lip Polish. Of course I got one of each.
The Lip Creams come in 12 shades and the Lip Polishes…
Essence since coming to the UK has slowly grown a reputation as an inexpensive brand with fantastic quality. Although cheap packaging and a cartoon logo may put you off, some of the actual products are beautiful, and after this review you will confidently know the best products from the brand.
Firstly, the best product from the whole range is their eyebrow gel. Simply named Make Me Brow this brow gel may scream déjà vu to with its similar name and packaging of a popular benefit product. Thankfully Essence has given us a cruelty free and cheaper dupe to the cult favourite eyebrow gel at only £2.50.
This gel can be used alone or on top of a powder or pencil to add colour and set your brows. This brow gel is like nothing else you will find in your high-street as it has little fibres in it to really add fullness and thickness to your brows. The fibres are very small so nothing to be scared of, you are not going to have small specs sprinkled through your brows, they adhere to your hairs and hence make each hair appear thicker.
This product is perfect for those who want minimal and natural brows or to achieve fuller brows very quickly. I recommend using this product first in your eyebrow routine. This product will already partially fill in the gaps between your hairs giving you a naturally fuller brow immediately. If you have still a few sparse areas by going in with a second product after this gel will allow your brows to not have too much product in them and fill in your brows much quicker. When I do not use this product I really notice a different in the longevity and the thickness of my brows.

For helping my whole face of makeup last longer Essence has the perfect cruelty free setting spray. At only £3.50 this setting spray you can go through like water and not feel guilty. GlamLifeGuru the YouTuber has raved about the ‘Keep it Perfect’ setting spray by Essence many a time on her channel and she agrees that this is the best setting spray from the drugstore, and luckily a cruelty free one. This setting spray you can bathe yourself when you have finished your makeup to erase that powdery look, use before your makeup as a primer, or spray it onto a beauty sponge then press it onto my foundation to make it last longer. Unfortunately, the cheap packaging of this product means it is not a fine mist at all and has a scent like chemicals, but it you can look past that then it is the best product you will find for helping the longevity of your makeup without clogging your pores.

Maybe the chemical scent is intentional because their Long Lasting Lipsticks are the same, but the smell does not linger, they taste fine, and the formula and colours are dreamy. The packaging has recently changed which makes them look so much more expensive in a sleek all black tube, mine are well loved!
These lipsticks are not going to crave your matte lipstick addiction but they will nourish those dry lips and give u a lovely sheen for the summer.
All the colours are beautiful reds and nudes, perfect for this festival season. These have a good coverage on their own to give a lovely everyday colour to the lips, but they work best under a lip liner to give you full coverage. The shades Barely There and On the Catwalk! are perfect shades that are wearable to everyone and every skin tone.
